Fourteen Year Old Girl Wounded in Nasarawa Attack on Farmers
A 14 year old girl, Amina Ya’u, was injured when suspected armed herders opened fire on farmers in Majelisa village, near the Nasarawa and Plateau border.
The shooting was reported at about 6:30 a.m. on November 5, after residents heard gunfire. Troops from Sector 9 of Operation Enduring Peace, deployed at Jenta, responded to a distress call and found Amina wounded. The suspected gunmen had fled before they arrived.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting followed a disagreement over grazing activities. The troops took Amina to General Hospital in Lafia for treatment.
Security personnel are working with Fulani leaders to identify and locate the suspects. Patrols and security presence in the area have also been increased to prevent further violence or escalation.
The attack comes amid continuing reports of violence in Nigeria’s North Central region. Zoyols News
