The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has publicly endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term, citing a track record of performance that he believes has set a new standard for leadership in the state. Speaking at an event organized by the Vanguard Movement for Continuity in Owerrinta, Emeruwa noted that the governor’s achievements are visible across all sectors and have become difficult for even political opponents to ignore.
During the gathering at the Adventist Technical Secondary College, the Speaker represented the governor and highlighted how the current administration has restored the confidence of the people. According to Emeruwa, the developmental strides taken so far have encouraged many Abians living elsewhere to return home and invest in their local economy. He described the governor’s emergence as a timely intervention for the state, suggesting that a second tenure in 2027 is necessary to solidify these gains.
Adding weight to this endorsement, the General Manager of the Abia State Debt Management Office and leader of the support group, Kingsley Nwaigburu, pointed to specific milestones that have defined the Otti administration. These include the systematic clearing of long-standing salary and pension arrears, significant improvements in healthcare and school infrastructure, and the rehabilitation of critical roads and bridges. Nwaigburu emphasized that the improved security situation and business-friendly policies are actively drawing new investors into Abia.
The event also served as a platform for intellectual discourse with the launch of a new book titled “Threats to Societal Values and Advancement” by Fineboy Joseph, a lecturer at Clifford University. The author explained that his work addresses the moral challenges facing the community, such as corruption and drug abuse, while offering practical ways to restore social values. The publication received praise from the Vice Chancellor of Clifford University, Chimezie Omeonu, who called the message timely and essential for societal growth.
In a separate but related move to bolster political support, a group identified as the Alex Otti 4+4 Movement has initiated a widespread grassroots mobilization effort. The group aims to ensure that the current momentum of economic transformation continues beyond the present term. The movement’s chairman, Chibueze Okah, stated that their focus will include voter education, registration drives, and monitoring government projects to ensure accountability.
As the 2027 governorship race begins to take shape, several other interest groups have joined the call for the governor’s return. Stakeholders at the Owerrinta event echoed the sentiment that the visible changes in infrastructure and governance have made the case for continuity stronger than ever. The consensus among these supporters is that the current administration’s scorecard serves as its most effective campaign tool for a second term.
