Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has fired back at a social media troll who questioned her for celebrating May Edochie’s latest achievement.
The actress had taken to Instagram to congratulate May after she unveiled her cosmetics line on Amazon, a move Anita proudly applauded. But while many joined in the celebration, one troll dismissed the excitement and accused Anita of making too much noise over what was described as a small achievement.
Reacting to the comment, Anita made it clear that she had no intention of toning down her support for May. She said there would be even bigger celebrations ahead, hinting that greater milestones were still to come.
Sharing her response, Anita wrote that someone had complained under her earlier congratulatory post about all the excitement over May’s Amazon launch. In reply, she said they would soon be celebrating with “Monarch,” adding that this is simply how they choose to honour people they care about. She also used the opportunity to urge her followers to support May’s newly launched beauty brand.
Anita’s public support for May is not new. Over the past few years, she has remained one of the actress’ most vocal supporters, especially during major personal and career moments.
Last year, she celebrated May’s birthday with warm words and photos of her close circle, describing her as a global force and thanking God for her life. She also assured May of her loyalty and prayed that she would continue to succeed.
On another birthday occasion, Anita reflected on May’s journey and expressed gratitude to God for how far she had come, saying her path had been ordered and guided every step of the way.
Her support became even more visible after May’s separation from actor Yul Edochie. Since then, Anita has consistently stood by her, publicly backing both her brand and personal growth.
Two years ago, she had to address concerns from some of May’s fans who were upset that she did not post a birthday message early enough. Anita asked them to calm down and avoid rushing to conclusions, reminding them that social media does not always reflect real life. She later shared a heartfelt birthday message, saying she was sad not to be with May physically on the day, but assured her that she was there in spirit.
In 2024, Anita also opposed the idea of fans opening a GoFundMe for May, warning that such a move could later be used against her, especially by people who might claim they paid her children’s school fees.
Her gestures toward May have gone far beyond social media posts. In 2022, Anita reportedly put up a billboard for her on Third Mainland Bridge along Osborne Road. She also organised a surprise birthday party in May’s honour, where gifts worth over one million naira were presented.
Ahead of one of May’s birthday celebrations, Anita further rallied support for May Edochie’s foundation, which was set up to care for the less privileged.
May’s personal life has remained in the spotlight since actor Yul Edochie married his colleague Judy, a development that eventually brought an end to his marriage with May, the mother of his four children. Through it all, Anita has continued to stand firmly by her side.
