Dangote Unveils Pan-African Fuel Network & Industrial Shield

Zoyols News
Aliko Dangote is setting his sights on completely transforming how energy moves across Africa. Through Dangote Industries Limited, the billionaire industrialist has mapped out an ambitious pan-African petroleum distribution blueprint that relies on heavy investments in pipelines, storage depots, and supply corridors. Speaking on the broader vision, he emphasized that African nations must implement robust policies to shield local industries if the continent ever hopes to truly industrialize.
The strategy involves aggressively expanding logistics infrastructure throughout East, Central, and Southern Africa. The goal is straightforward: build an interconnected energy grid that links major refining hubs directly to underserved markets, cutting out the inefficiencies and supply bottlenecks that have plagued the continent for decades.
Zoyols News gathered that this continental push is already taking shape on multiple fronts. During an interview with journalist David Pilling, Dangote revealed that his conglomerate recently secured a 25 percent stake in Kenya’s petroleum pipeline network with the backing of the Kenyan government. Beyond East Africa, the group is laying down a massive distribution corridor connecting Djibouti and Addis Ababa, complete with tank farms and storage terminals. Work on a strategic project in Cameroon is nearly wrapped up, while Namibia has been earmarked as a pivotal gateway into Southern Africa. Because Namibia sits just a four-day sea voyage from the mega refinery in Lagos, it offers an ideal launchpad to push refined products down into Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
Adding to these distribution corridors, plans are moving forward for an entirely new refinery in Lamu, Kenya, designed to churn out around 700,000 barrels per day. This facility is expected to tap into East Africa’s booming mining sector and rising energy consumption, drawing crude from diverse sources to keep operations flexible and sustainable. Despite running into last-minute legal hurdles orchestrated by competing commercial interests, the investment decision was locked in record time.
Dangote did not mince words when discussing the philosophy behind these massive capital outlays. He argued fiercely against an economic model that relies on dumping foreign goods into African markets, noting that unchecked imports simply export local jobs and import poverty. Pointing to how advanced economies aggressively protect their own manufacturing sectors, he maintained that Africa has every right to do the same.
To back up this long-term vision, the conglomerate has set aside roughly $50 billion for investments spanning 2026 to 2030, aiming to prove that African enterprises can spearhead game-changing industrial projects on a global scale. At the same time, he pointed out that massive hurdles remain, particularly chronic power shortages affecting hundreds of millions of people across the continent, alongside weak financial frameworks and lagging industrial policies.
Even with those hurdles, the billionaire remains deeply optimistic. Armed with abundant natural resources, fertile lands, and a vibrant young population, he believes the continent’s long-awaited economic awakening is finally underway.
