The Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Governor Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, remembering him as a unifying figure whose commitment to peace, infrastructure, and traditional institutions left a lasting mark on the state.
The royal fathers conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the Uduaghan family of Abigborodo, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the entire people of Delta State. The message, endorsed by the Chairman of the council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue I, noted that the news was received with profound shock and disbelief across the traditional leadership circles.
Reflecting on his years in office, the monarchs highlighted how the late governor consistently prioritized their welfare while actively building bridges across the state’s diverse ethnic groups. They credited him with treating every corner of Delta as a single, undivided family, successfully fostering harmony in a region that had faced deep-seated tensions. Special mention was made of his tireless peace-building efforts in the aftermath of the Warri crisis, which ultimately laid the foundation for sustainable coexistence among the warring factions.
Beyond peace and reconciliation, the council underscored his immense contributions to human capital growth and infrastructural expansion throughout the state. His administration was praised for elevating the status and standing of traditional institutions to align with the finest standards nationwide.
As the state mourns what the royal fathers termed an irreparable loss, prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul, alongside supplications for divine comfort for his immediate family, the state government, and all residents grieving his departure.
