Political parties across Nigeria are racing against time to complete the upload of their candidates’ details on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the July 11 deadline set by the electoral body.
While some of the major parties say they have successfully concluded the process, several others are still battling technical and internal hurdles that could affect their chances of meeting the cut off date.
Zoyols News gathered that the ruling All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress were among the parties that confirmed they had uploaded their candidates on the INEC portal. However, some other parties admitted the exercise had not gone smoothly, citing frustrations over the commission’s online submission system.
Beyond concerns about the portal itself, a number of political parties are still trying to wrap up key aspects of their preparations. Some have yet to finalise the choice of running mates for their governorship candidates, while others are still dealing with unresolved issues from their primary elections.
With the deadline drawing closer, pressure is mounting on affected parties to settle outstanding disputes and complete the submission process before time runs out.
