Barcelona have reached an agreement to secure the services of Spain captain Rodri from Manchester City in a deal worth approximately £65 million. The 30-year-old midfielder, who famously claimed the Ballon d’Or in 2024, is poised to commit to a four-year contract with the reigning Spanish champions.
According to reports monitored by Zoyols News, the high-profile transfer is expected to be finalized in the coming days, marking a major homecoming for one of Spanish football’s most decorated modern players.
Rodri leaves Manchester City after seven highly successful seasons following his £62.8 million move from Atletico Madrid in 2019. During his time in England, he established himself as the engine room of Pep Guardiola’s side, making 298 appearances and winning 12 major trophies, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups, and the Champions League.
The move comes after a challenging couple of years for the midfielder. He missed the majority of the 2024-25 season due to a severe knee injury, and his subsequent campaign was interrupted by persistent hamstring issues. However, Rodri proved his enduring class and fitness during the summer World Cup, where he captained Spain to glory and earned the tournament’s best player award, setting the stage for his blockbuster move to Barcelona.
