Burna Boy is taking a firm stand against online defamation after a social media user made damaging claims about him. The Grammy-winning Afrobeats star’s legal team, Templars, has formally warned a netizen using the handle @mirexmoses over a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated December 7, 2025.
In the now-controversial post, the user suggested that Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, did not support Burna Boy out of genuine admiration for his music but for personal gain, implying unethical motives. The comment has drawn widespread attention, amassing over 5,000 views and sparking concern over the impact on Burna Boy’s global reputation.
Templars, in a letter dated January 26 and signed by Olufemi Oyewole SAN, described the post as “defamatory” and “libelous.” The law firm stressed that the claims are false, unsubstantiated, and damaging, stating that the ongoing circulation of the post is injuring Burna Boy’s personal brand and professional image. According to the letter, the publication exposes him to “hatred, contempt, and ridicule” and undermines the standing of a globally recognized artist in the eyes of the international community.
The legal team also highlighted that the post violates X’s policies on abuse, harassment, and other unlawful activity, noting that it was crafted to tarnish Burna Boy’s reputation intentionally. They have demanded the post be permanently deleted within 48 hours, warning that failure to comply will result in further legal action.
Burna Boy continues to be celebrated as one of Afrobeats’ most influential figures, with his artistry and global impact securing him a place among the world’s leading contemporary musicians. This move underscores his commitment to protecting his legacy and ensuring that false narratives do not overshadow his achievements.
