Grammy winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has reached another major career milestone after becoming the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has now moved ahead of fellow Nigerian star Tems. The pair were previously tied with eight Billboard Hot 100 entries each, but Burna Boy has now taken sole possession of the record.
His latest achievement came after his collaboration with Shakira on the official World Cup song, “Dai Dai,” debuted at number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The track gained widespread attention after the duo performed it during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup, helping to boost its popularity.
With the new entry, Burna Boy now has a total of nine songs on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100, making him the African artiste with the most appearances in the chart’s history.
The record setting feat also makes Burna Boy the first African artiste to place at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years, highlighting his consistency and growing influence on the global music scene.
His Billboard Hot 100 entries include “Loved By You” in 2021, “Last Last” in 2022, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, “WGFT” in 2025, and “Only You” alongside “Dai Dai” in 2026.
The latest accomplishment further strengthens Burna Boy’s reputation as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports, with his international success continuing to set new standards for artists from the continent.
