The naira remained largely stable against the United States dollar on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets as traders continued to monitor the availability of foreign exchange and overall market liquidity.
Figures from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market showed that the official exchange rate remained around ₦1,370 to one United States dollar. The latest available market data indicated that the naira closed Wednesday’s trading session at approximately ₦1,372.76 against the dollar.
Based on the official market rate, 100 dollars would exchange for about ₦137,276, while 1,000 dollars would be valued at roughly ₦1.37 million.
Activity in the parallel market also reflected relative stability. The dollar exchanged at about ₦1,395 for buying, while selling rates ranged between ₦1,405 and ₦1,408, depending on the location and individual currency dealers.
At the current parallel market rate, 100 dollars would be exchanged for approximately ₦140,500 to ₦140,800.
The difference between the official and parallel market exchange rates remained considerably narrower than the wide gaps experienced in previous years. This trend reflects ongoing efforts by monetary authorities to improve liquidity and gradually align rates across Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
Financial analysts believe the future direction of the naira will continue to depend on several important factors, including foreign exchange earnings from crude oil exports, inflows from foreign portfolio investors, diaspora remittances, and interventions by the Central Bank of Nigeria to support the currency market.
As of Thursday, June 25, 2026, the indicative exchange rates show the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate at approximately ₦1,372.76 per United States dollar, while the parallel market rate stands at about ₦1,395 for buying and between ₦1,405 and ₦1,408 for selling.
