Safaricom Plc has introduced a new family plan that combines home internet with shared mobile data and voice services as the Kenyan telecom giant looks to attract more households to its fibre network.
The Family Share plan allows Home Fibre customers to add up to five family members who can share mobile data or voice minutes under the same subscription and receive a single bill.
The package starts at 3,749 Kenyan shillings and comes with broadband speeds of 40 megabits per second. Customers can choose between 750 shared voice minutes or 14 gigabytes of mobile data.
The offer is available to both new and existing Safaricom Home Fibre customers.
The move comes as Safaricom continues to expand its fixed broadband business and encourage more households to connect to its fibre network. The company said its active fibre to the home customer base has grown by 27%, while the proportion of connected homes with active subscriptions increased from 66.8% to 71%.
Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali, said the new package was designed to give families more value while making it easier to manage their communication and internet needs.
She noted that people now work, study, travel and stay connected from different locations, creating a growing demand for flexible services that can serve several members of a household.
The Family Share plan forms part of Safaricom’s wider “Pata More” value initiative, which is aimed at giving customers more benefits through bundled services.
