Nollywood actress Ini Dima Okojie has welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with her husband, Abasi Ene Obong, bringing to reality a journey she once described as filled with uncertainty, resilience, and hope after years of battling fibroids and fertility concerns.
The actress shared the joyful news on June 24, a date that also marked her 36th birthday, making the occasion even more memorable as she celebrated her first birthday as a mother.
Announcing the arrival of her son on Instagram, the Blood Sisters star reflected on how motherhood has transformed her life.
“There is no role I have ever played that has humbled me, stretched me, challenged me, or filled my heart quite like this one,” she wrote while sharing photographs of herself holding her newborn shortly after delivery.
She added that the past few weeks had been among the most beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting, and rewarding moments of her life.
For many of her followers, the birth represents the joyful ending to a journey that began several years ago when she first opened up about her health struggles.
Ini Dima Okojie revealed that she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids in 2017. At the time, she recalled being advised by her gynaecologist that if the fibroids were not causing any discomfort, she could leave them untreated but should consider getting married soon.
By March 2020, the condition had worsened, prompting another doctor to recommend surgery. However, the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic delayed the procedure.
During that period, she explored different options to manage the condition, including herbal remedies, changes to her diet, and regular exercise before eventually undergoing a successful myomectomy in November 2020.
Despite the successful operation, her health challenge resurfaced.
In July 2024, the actress disclosed that the fibroids had returned three years after her surgery. Rather than undergoing another operation, she decided to embrace a holistic treatment plan.
She eliminated red meat, dairy products, processed foods, refined sugar, and white carbohydrates from her diet while documenting her progress. By October 2024, follow up medical scans showed that the fibroids had begun shrinking.
A few months later, in April this year, she shared another life changing announcement with fans, revealing that she was expecting her first child.
Describing the pregnancy as a miracle, she expressed gratitude for the blessing and quoted the biblical passage from Jeremiah 1 verse 5, which says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”
She also used the opportunity to encourage women to pay close attention to their reproductive health, stressing the importance of regular medical checkups. In the past, she had even offered to sponsor fibroid scans for women facing similar challenges.
With the birth of her son, Ini Dima Okojie’s remarkable journey has come full circle. What began as years of uncertainty and difficult medical battles has now blossomed into a moment of joy as she embraces motherhood and begins an exciting new chapter in her life.
