The 68th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw Davido nominated for Best African Music Performance. Chioma, making her debut at the high-profile event alongside her husband and elder sister Sharon Adeleke, chose a sheer dress that quickly drew attention on social media.
After sharing photos of her look on Instagram, one fan warned her against wearing such an outfit again, writing, “Nne, no wear this cloth again inugo. However, your husband loves you o.” Chioma’s reply was straightforward and unapologetic: “I will wear it again.”
Even Governor’s aide Ossai Ovie Success weighed in, expressing disappointment over what he described as a “half-naked” look that, in his view, didn’t represent Nigerian culture. Yet, Chioma’s fans applauded her confidence, highlighting that this was not the first time she had faced public scrutiny over her fashion choices.
In 2024, she sparked conversation online over her slimmer figure, first noticed during her twins’ birthday celebration. Viral photos from that period also drew criticism toward her makeup artist for over-editing.
Chioma and Davido have consistently maintained a strong presence in both the entertainment and social spheres. Their white wedding in Miami on August 10, 2025, was attended by prominent figures including Dangote, Governor Ademola Adeleke, Obi Cubana and his wife, Dbanj and his wife, Zlatan and his wife, among others.
Over the years, Chioma has shown that she charts her own path while celebrating her personal milestones with Davido, from their wedding to anniversaries, all while remaining unapologetically herself in public appearances.
Her response to the Grammy critique reaffirms that she chooses to embrace her style without compromise.
