Green Lock FC opened their 1xCup 2026 Badagry Zone campaign with a 3-0 win over Dominion Stars, a result that quickly stood out as one of the early markers of the tournament. The match carried the feel that comes when players, coaches and supporters share the same stretch of ground, and the visitors left with a statement as much as a scoreline.
The side showed discipline, tight movement and real belief going forward. That was the point they wanted to make. Green Lock is ready to climb.
The club was formed in Abuja on October 15, 2023. Founder Olufunsho Cliffton Peters has said it grew from a wish to serve his community. For many boys whose lives were already hard, the team became a place to grow talent, find confidence and map a different road. Zoyols News reports that Peters built a working platform so young footballers can stay in the game, keep improving and chase a professional career. For them, 1xCup 2026 is a chance to put that work in front of a bigger crowd.
The opening win was a team effort, but two names drew extra eyes. Right winger Promise Marcus scored a striking goal and mixed pace with control. Full back Gafar Shonde switched between firm defending and well timed runs into attack, a lesson in how the role should be played.
