2027: Davido Rejects Adeleke’s Tinubu Endorsement

Zoyols News

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made it clear that his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, does not represent his own political position.

Davido spoke during an interview with News Central TV on Tuesday, days after his uncle secured re election in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.

Governor Adeleke had reaffirmed his support for Tinubu shortly after the election victory, praising the President for what he described as his support for a free and fair electoral process.

Adeleke also referred to Tinubu as a son of Osun State and renewed his earlier pledge to support the President’s bid for another term in office in 2027.

However, Davido said he was not automatically bound by his uncle’s decision and had yet to settle on a candidate for the next presidential election.

The singer explained that although Adeleke publicly declared his support for Tinubu after winning the governorship election, he personally had no reason to endorse any candidate at the moment.

“Immediately he won, my uncle came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but as for me, I am not propelled to support anybody,” Davido said.

The award winning musician, who previously supported former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during an earlier election cycle, said his position could still change before the 2027 presidential election.

For now, however, Davido said he had no preferred presidential candidate and ruled out supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“Right now, I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change but it will not be APC,” he said.

Davido was actively involved in the campaign activities that preceded Adeleke’s re election in Osun State, making his latest comments particularly notable as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

Zoyols News reports that Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu and Davido’s decision to maintain an independent position highlight the different political choices emerging within the governor’s wider family circle as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
