Arsenal started their Premier League title defence in style with a comfortable 3-0 win over newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates.
Kai Havertz broke the deadlock in the 15th minute after Coventry struggled to clear their lines. Bukayo Saka then doubled the lead eight minutes later, capitalising on a rebound from the Coventry goalkeeper to put Arsenal in full control by half-time.
Martin Ødegaard sealed the victory early in the second half with a well-taken finish that effectively ended the contest. Coventry offered more resistance after the break but rarely threatened the Arsenal defence.
The result gives Mikel Arteta’s side the perfect start to the season as they look to retain their crown, especially after they had already beaten Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield. The summer signings have added fresh depth to a squad that looks ready for another strong campaign.
For Coventry and Frank Lampard, the game served as a reminder of the challenges ahead in the Premier League. Despite a better showing after the interval, the Sky Blues could not break down Arsenal and left London empty-handed.
