Burna Boy has spoken about a private chat he shares with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr and NBA star Jalen Brown, describing the group as their “7 team” because of their link to the number seven.
The Afrobeats star made the comments while talking about meeting Vinicius Jr and the Real Madrid camp during a SpotyBet promotion. Asked who else was in the group, he said it was him, Vinny, and Jalen Brown, adding that it was their 7 group chat and calling the setup crazy.
He said they talk about plenty in that chat. Their most recent conversation, according to him, was about bringing everyone to Nigeria. When it was pointed out that Vinicius had been spotted in Jamaica, Burna Boy confirmed the footballer was on vacation.
He was clear, though, that the planned trip to Nigeria would not be a holiday. This one is for work, he said. Good to go to Nigeria. This one is for work.
Burna Boy also spoke about Africa’s chance to keep producing top footballers, stressing the need to build young talent through academies.
The remarks add another unusual thread between the Nigerian music star, one of football’s biggest young names, and a leading NBA player. From what Burna Boy said, those conversations could soon become a work related visit to Nigeria.
