The family of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is currently in a state of distress as he battles stage four cancer. His daughter, Kira Taiwo, recently shared a deeply emotional video online to speak about her father’s deteriorating health. In her tearful appeal, she revealed that the hospital has denied the veteran actor chemotherapy, leaving the family desperate for alternative options. She clarified that she is not seeking financial donations from the public, but is instead begging anyone with helpful recommendations for effective medical or traditional treatments to come forward.
This development is coming after Ogogo himself opened up about his health struggles during a previous interview. He recounted a grueling seven-year battle with a mysterious illness that left him unable to tolerate solid food, forcing him to survive solely on pap while moving from one medical center to another in search of a cure.
Reports monitored by Zoyols News highlight a troubling wave of severe health challenges currently hitting the Nigerian entertainment industry. Not long ago, actress Omotunde Apinke Ogundimu made a passionate public appeal during a sit-down interview, where she broke down in tears over her agonizing battle with cervical cancer, describing the daily physical pain as unbearable.
In a similar vein, actress Destiny Etiko recently took to social media to champion a fundraising and support campaign for her colleague, Cynthia Nkachukwu Anijekwu, who is also fighting a severe battle with cancer. The emotional video shared online detailed Cynthia’s painful journey and the urgent need for medical intervention.
Another beloved industry figure, Ngozi Nwosu, also went public with her own health crisis. In a moving update, the veteran actress revealed she has been dealing with a debilitating, undisclosed ailment that requires three major surgeries. She admitted that while it was incredibly difficult to share her personal struggles publicly, she could no longer remain silent as she urgently needs 30 million Naira to undergo the life-saving procedures.
Since making her condition known, help has started coming in for the veteran actress. During a church service in Asaba, actress Eucharia Anunobi rallied the congregation to raise over one hundred thousand Naira, which was immediately transferred to Ngozi’s bank account.
A massive boost to the fundraising efforts came from the Abia State Government, which stepped in with a generous donation of 25 million Naira to ensure the actress receives the best possible medical care.
In a recent update, Ngozi’s management expressed profound gratitude to the public, the government, and her colleagues for the overwhelming show of love. They confirmed that she is in high spirits and is actively being prepared for her first surgery, which is scheduled for next week. However, they reminded well-wishers that the fundraising is still ongoing, as more support is needed to fully cover the remaining medical expenses and subsequent surgeries.
