Segun Phillips, a Nigerian real estate entrepreneur and Managing Director of Sabre Works Real Estate Investment Limited, has taken a different path into the property industry, drawing on his years of experience in banking and investment to help Nigerians explore real estate opportunities.
Phillips started his career in the banking sector, where he worked closely with clients on savings, investments, asset building and capital growth. His time in finance also gave him a deeper understanding of the potential of real estate as a long term investment.
Born and raised in Lagos, he witnessed the city’s steady transformation as once undeveloped areas developed into major residential and commercial centres. The growth of places such as Lekki and Ikeja further strengthened his belief in the lasting value of property investment.
His banking background has continued to shape his approach to real estate. He places strong emphasis on investment discipline, strategic locations, capital appreciation and the long term prospects of every property opportunity.
That experience eventually led to the establishment of Sabre Works Real Estate Investment Limited, a company focused on creating property investment opportunities for Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora.
Unlike many property executives who entered the industry through construction or property sales, Phillips brought a financial and investment background into real estate. This has influenced the way Sabre Works evaluates and develops its projects, with attention given to location, growth potential and future value.
One of the company’s notable projects is Grosvenors Place at 100 Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos. The commercial development is planned to provide office spaces, retail outlets and lifestyle facilities, adding to the evolving commercial landscape of Ikeja.
Sabre Works also has Oranje Apartments, a three bedroom luxury residential development located at Atlantic Nominee, Lekki Ajah, Lagos. The project is designed to appeal to young professionals and families looking for modern homes in a growing part of the city.
Other developments associated with the company include Bewaji Imperial, a luxury residential project, as well as Maldives Gardens in Ibeju Lekki and Epe. The Maldives Gardens projects are positioned as land investment opportunities in emerging parts of Lagos with considerable development prospects.
For Phillips, moving from banking into real estate was not a departure from investment. Rather, it was an opportunity to apply the financial principles he had learned in the banking industry to an asset class he believes offers tangible and lasting value.
Through Sabre Works, he continues to pursue his goal of making prime property and affordable luxury homes more accessible to Nigerians at home and abroad, while helping investors build assets that can appreciate over time and potentially benefit future generations.
