Zoyols News

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has officially drawn to a close in Rabat, Morocco, concluding with a historic performance that saw Cameroon emerge as the new champions of the continent. The Indomitable Lionesses secured the title in dominant fashion, dismantling Malawi with a decisive 3-0 victory in the final match.

This triumph marks a major milestone for the Cameroonian women’s national team, which had reached the final on three previous occasions without ever clinching the trophy. Their perseverance finally paid off in Morocco, solidifying their place in history as the 2026 continental titleholders. For Malawi, the tournament remained a remarkable success despite the final defeat; reaching the championship match in their first-ever WAFCON final appearance is a feat that has earned them widespread admiration.

As reported by Zoyols News, the tournament’s conclusion also served as a stage to honor the individual brilliance that defined this year’s competition. Cameroon naturally dominated the awards podium, with their goalkeeper Michaely Bihina recognized as the best in the tournament, while Monique Ngock was voted the Player of the Tournament for her consistent and impactful play throughout the weeks of competition.

The spotlight also shone brightly on Marie Ngah Manga, who was rightfully named Player of the Final. Her two goals were the engine behind Cameroon’s historic win, providing the offensive spark needed to finally break the team’s long-standing championship curse. Meanwhile, the tournament’s top goalscorer honor was claimed by Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, who proved to be the most lethal striker on the field despite her team falling just short of the ultimate prize.

Beyond the individual accolades, the Algerian squad was recognized for their sportsmanship, taking home the Fair Play Award to wrap up a tournament defined by intense competition and memorable moments.
