Wole Ojo has spoken out after discovering how much some doctors in Nigeria take home each month, and the revelation clearly unsettled him.
The actor said he recently learned that medical doctors working in one of the major hospitals on the Island earn between N350,000 and N500,000 monthly, with some reportedly receiving about N400,000. The figure, he admitted, left him shaken.
In a video shared online , Ojo explained that he usually avoids sensitive conversations but could not ignore what he had just found out. Converting the amount using the current exchange rate, he noted that N400,000 comes to roughly 300 dollars a month. Over a year, that adds up to less than 4,000 dollars.
For someone who has dedicated years to medical training and carries the responsibility of saving lives, he said the earnings do not reflect the weight of the job. He described doctors as truly special people and stressed that while he respects every profession, the role doctors play in society deserves far better recognition and reward.
Ojo did not hide his emotions. He said the discovery left him worried, saddened and genuinely afraid for the future of the country’s healthcare system.
