2027: APC Rejects Hunye’s Claim, Backs Yayi for Ogun Guber Race

Zoyols News

The All Progressives Congress has rejected Abayomi Hunye’s claim that he is the party’s candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

According to the party, Hunye is currently under suspension and therefore lacks the standing to represent the APC in any capacity. National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru described the self-declaration as false and unauthorised.

The APC explained that Hunye was suspended on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward in Ipokia Local Government Area. The suspension was approved at the ward, local government and state levels before being communicated to the national headquarters.

The party listed his suspension as being due to actions that damaged the party’s image and efforts to create division among members. It insisted that Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi remains its recognised candidate for the 2027 race.
