The party’s chairman in Oredo, Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe, led party leaders and candidates to the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin City, where they formally presented their flag bearers to members of the media.
Osarenkhoe said the candidates had completed the party’s selection process and were prepared to contest the forthcoming elections. He expressed confidence in their chances and described the visit as an opportunity to build a cordial relationship with journalists ahead of the election campaign.
He urged members of the media to give the candidates fair and adequate coverage, adding that the party hoped to maintain a lasting relationship with the NUJ as political activities gathered momentum.
Presenting the candidates, Osarenkhoe explained that the APC’s senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Ogbeide Ihama, could not attend the meeting because of an important engagement outside Edo State.
He described Dr Emmanuel Iyamu, the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives, as a prominent political figure with a strong presence across Oredo.
The chairman also announced Dr Richard Edosa, the incumbent representative of Oredo West in the Edo State House of Assembly, as the party’s candidate for another term.
According to Osarenkhoe, the decision to give Edosa another opportunity followed the party’s assessment of his performance and the need to sustain ongoing projects in the constituency.
He further introduced Osamuede Henry Edebiri as the APC candidate for Oredo East in the state assembly. Osarenkhoe described Edebiri as a grassroots politician who was born, raised and educated in the area.
The meeting also gave the candidates an opportunity to interact with journalists and discuss their plans ahead of the elections.
Osarenkhoe expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in 2027 and called for continued engagement between the APC and the media, stressing the importance of communication as the election season approaches.
