Anambra State has rolled out fresh plans to move government services online and bring small businesses into the digital economy by 2030.
The push is being led by the state ICT Agency under its latest phase. Instead of just putting up basic digital tools, the focus now is on using technology to actually deliver services, support businesses, and drive growth across the state.
Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, the agency’s Managing Director and CEO, shared the details during a virtual press briefing. He explained that more government services will soon be available on the OneGov platform so residents can handle most processes from their phones or computers without going to offices in person.
A big part of the plan is turning government websites from simple notice boards into proper service portals. The ICT Agency will build and automate sites for different ministries and agencies, making it possible for people to start and finish applications online.
The aim is to cut down on unnecessary visits to government offices. Citizens will be able to track activities, submit requests, and complete transactions digitally. They will only need to show up physically when verification or other in-person steps are required.
In its early days, the platform already drew around 14,000 visits in just three weeks, even with little promotion, averaging roughly 700 visits each day.
