Following an impressive star filled premiere in Lagos, the highly anticipated Nollywood Bollywood romantic comedy, On Different Grounds, has officially opened in cinemas across Nigeria.
The film made its nationwide debut on June 12, 2026, coinciding with Democracy Day, after creating excitement at its exclusive premiere on June 7 at EbonyLife Place in Victoria Island, Lagos. Produced by Nicollette Ndigwe Kalu under HB and Q Impressions Studios, directed by Mildred Okwo and distributed by Cinemax Distribution, the movie received a standing ovation from guests at its first public screening.
The premiere attracted several notable personalities from the entertainment industry, including television host and cultural commentator Ebuka Obi Uchendu, reality television star Elozonam, as well as respected Nollywood actors Bikiya Graham Douglas, Biodun Stephen and Clinton Joshua. Members of the cast, filmmakers, media professionals and invited guests also turned out in large numbers, creating an atmosphere that reflected the excitement surrounding the film.
At the heart of On Different Grounds is the story of the Fregenes, a wealthy divorced couple who unexpectedly find themselves working together to organize their eldest daughter’s wedding. Unknown to them, their daughter has carefully planned the event in the hope of rekindling the love they once shared.
Set against the backdrop of an elegant Lagos wedding, the movie blends romance, family drama, cultural differences and humour into a story that delivers both laughter and emotional moments. The production features an impressive lineup of stars, including Bob Manuel Udokwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Nkem Owoh, Uche Jombo and Ebele Okaro. They are joined by Uche Montana, Bambam, Ifeanyi Kalu and the Mbadiwe Twins, alongside international actors Abena Akuaba, Nimesh Diliprai Desai and Vineet Raina.
Audience reaction at the premiere was overwhelmingly positive.
