CDQ Speaks on Industry Influence, Cautions Artists

Zoyols News

Veteran Nigerian rapper CDQ has raised concerns about what he describes as the growing influence of powerful groups within the country’s music industry, claiming that many artists face significant challenges if they are not connected to certain circles.

Speaking during a recent interview with content creator JBrandy, the “Nowo Soke” crooner alleged that the music scene has gradually become dominated by networks and cliques that wield considerable influence over opportunities and career growth.

According to the rapper, many upcoming and established artists now find themselves under pressure to associate with particular groups in order to gain visibility and advance their careers. He suggested that success without such affiliations has become increasingly difficult, despite the abundance of talent across the industry.

CDQ noted that artists who have managed to build thriving careers while remaining completely independent should be grateful for their achievements, as he believes they have succeeded against considerable odds.

He further warned that musicians who choose to stay outside these influential circles may end up investing heavily in their craft without achieving the level of recognition or rewards they deserve. In his view, talent and hard work alone do not always guarantee success in the current environment.

The rapper also used the opportunity to call on artists, record label owners, executives, and other stakeholders within the entertainment sector to help reshape the industry. He urged key players to discourage the growing connection between music and gang related affiliations and instead promote a culture where creativity, dedication, and equal opportunities determine success.

CDQ maintained that creating a fairer and more transparent environment would benefit both artists and the industry as a whole, while helping to ensure that emerging talents are judged by their abilities rather than their associations.
