The Allied Peoples Movement vice presidential candidate, Alhaji Lawal Daura, has thrown his weight behind Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, declaring him the most qualified contender for the 2027 presidential race. Speaking from the party’s campaign headquarters in Abuja, Daura pointed to Makinde’s tangible achievements in governance as proof of his unmatched competence and dedication to national progress.
Addressing members of the Northern Patriotic Front who visited to present an award of support, Daura outlined the vision of a Makinde-Daura ticket. He reassured citizens, particularly across the northern region, that their administration would operate as a focused, four-year transitional government of national unity. This transitional mandate would prioritize a comprehensive reset of Nigeria’s economy, educational standards, security framework, and broader socio-political landscape.
Daura challenged skeptics to look past rhetoric and scrutinize the actual track records of all presidential aspirants. He emphasized that leadership should be measured by proven capability, financial stewardship, and corporate integrity both before and during public service. Noting that Nigeria faces steep hurdles in poverty alleviation and governance, he urged voters to break away from ethnic biases and instead demand accountability from anyone seeking supreme political office.
Earlier in the visit, the leadership of the Northern Patriotic Front echoed these sentiments through their president, Alhaji Ali Abacha. Pledging the total backing of northern political stakeholders, Abacha praised Makinde’s transformative governance in Oyo State and lauded the choice of Daura, a recognized security expert, as running mate. He affirmed that the region resonates deeply with the Reset Nigeria agenda and is fully mobilized to ensure the success of the ticket at the polls.
