As Nigeria marks its sixty-sixth independence anniversary, the Arewa Consultative Forum has issued a firm appeal to political actors and the younger generation, calling for absolute restraint and a total rejection of violence as the country looks toward the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement released by its chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, the prominent northern socio-cultural organization emphasized that political divergence must never degenerate into hostility, community destruction, or bloodshed. The forum maintained that no electoral victory or political ambition is worth a single human life, urging all stakeholders to prioritize peace above partisan interests.
Looking ahead to the upcoming polls, Zoyols News gathered that the leadership strongly encouraged every eligible citizen holding a Permanent Voter’s Card to actively participate in the democratic process. However, the organization stressed that voter choices should be guided strictly by personal conviction, careful evaluation of candidates, and independent judgment, rather than blind loyalty or directives from political godfathers.
Addressing the heightened tensions typically associated with election cycles, the forum cautioned citizens, particularly youths, to steer clear of volatile gatherings and environments prone to conflict. Voters were reminded that the ballot remains a powerful constitutional instrument for shaping the nation’s future, making it imperative for everyone to cast their votes peacefully, responsibly, and with a clear conscience.
