The countdown has officially begun for Nigeria’s premier handball showdown. Zoyols News can confirm that the 2026 Ardova Handball Premier League is locked in to run from November 6 to November 21 right here in Lagos, bringing together the absolute best clubs from across the country for nearly two weeks of intense competition.
Action will unfold across two iconic venues in the city, with matches split between the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute For Sports at the National Stadium in Surulere and the vibrant Rowe Park Sports Complex in Alagomeji, Yaba. Both the men and women divisions are set to battle it out on the court for ultimate supremacy and bragging rights.
This upcoming campaign marks the ninth consecutive year of the league under this major partnership banner. It follows the recent multi-year agreement renewal between Ardova PLC and the Handball Federation of Nigeria, securing another three years of financial backing and stability for the country’s elite domestic handball scene.
Defending champions will have massive targets on their backs when the tournament kicks off. In the men’s category, the seasoned contenders Safety Shooters will return to defend their crown, while their sister club Safety Babes enter the fray as the dominant force in the women’s division. The Safety Babes are riding an incredible wave of momentum, having secured an unprecedented fifth consecutive title last season alongside an unbeaten streak that stretches all the way back to 2022.
Over the years, the competition has firmly cemented its status as the bedrock of Nigerian handball, serving as the ultimate breeding ground for raw talent, tactical brilliance, and high-level club rivalry. Fans and pundits alike are already gearing up for what promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the sport’s domestic history.
