Regional airline ASKY has returned a Boeing 737 aircraft involved in an incident at Niamey International Airport in Niger Republic to commercial service after months of extensive maintenance and structural repairs.
The aircraft, registered ET BBB, sustained structural damage during the incidents at the airport on January 29, 2026. It was subsequently taken through a specialised recovery programme carried out by Ethiopian MRO.
After several months of heavy maintenance and structural repair work, the aircraft has now returned to Lomé, marking the completion of a major technical restoration programme.
ASKY said the successful return of the aircraft reflects the completion of a demanding maintenance process carried out in line with applicable aviation safety standards and regulations.
The airline expressed appreciation to Ethiopian MRO and its maintenance teams for their professionalism, technical expertise and commitment throughout the restoration.
According to ASKY, repairing the aircraft required extensive engineering work, close coordination and strict adherence to safety and maintenance requirements.
The return of ET BBB to service brings the aircraft back into ASKY’s operational fleet following the completion of the necessary technical inspections and repairs.
