Popular Nigerian singer Inetimi Timaya Odon, widely known as Timaya, has issued a stern warning to citizens regarding the upcoming 2027 elections, urging voters to look past immediate gratification and carefully weigh the long-term consequences of their ballot choices.
Speaking during a recent interview on Wazobia FM, the music star expressed deep frustration over how short-term financial inducements from politicians often lock ordinary citizens into years of avoidable economic hardship. According to him, trading your future for a temporary meal or a quick payout only guarantees another four years of struggling through avoidable difficulties.
The artist did not hold back his criticism of the political class, specifically calling out public office holders who treat Nigeria merely as a workplace rather than a home. He pointed out that many leaders stash their families abroad and only fly back in to handle official duties, completely insulated from the daily realities and struggles faced by the average Nigerian. In his view, this disconnect makes it impossible for such leaders to govern with empathy or genuine commitment to national progress.
Calling for divine intervention, the singer prayed that anyone scheming to inflict further hardship on the nation ahead of 2027 should be removed from the scene. He stressed that the collective cries of suffering millions far outweigh the selfish ambitions of any single individual or political dynasty.
