Erling Haaland continued his impressive scoring form as Norway began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 3 2 victory over Denmark in Oslo.
The Manchester City striker struck twice, including the winning goal, to help Norway claim a hard fought victory in an entertaining encounter.
Norway took the lead through Fulham forward Oscar Bobb, who received a pass from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard before calmly curling the ball into the far corner.
Haaland doubled the advantage four minutes later after Antonio Nusa produced a brilliant piece of work to break into the penalty area and play the ball into his path. The striker needed just one touch to beat Denmark goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen with a first time finish.
Norway added a third goal within 11 minutes of Bobb’s opener when Brentford midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard sent a superb free kick into the net from about 25 yards.
Denmark refused to give up and pulled one back through former Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund shortly after the hour mark.
With the visitors pushing for an equaliser, Haaland struck again in the 74th minute. A well worked corner found the striker inside the box, and he finished powerfully to restore Norway’s lead and secure all three points.
The performance continued Haaland’s strong run at international level. He had scored seven goals during Norway’s historic World Cup campaign before the team’s quarterfinal exit against England.
His latest brace ensured Norway made a winning start to their Nations League campaign while once again highlighting the striker’s importance to the national team.
