Nigma’s Lagos Comeback: The King Is Back!

Zoyols News
The vibrant halls of the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos, recently came alive as the Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards, affectionately known as NIGMA, made a powerful and long-awaited return to the spotlight for its fifth edition. After a notable break, the prestigious event roared back to life, drawing a massive crowd that filled the venue to absolute capacity and firmly re-establishing its place as a cornerstone of the nation’s creative calendar.
From the very first moments of the evening, the atmosphere crackled with excitement. A dazzling red carpet welcomed an eclectic mix of guests, setting a glamorous tone that was matched only by the world-class stage design, impeccable lighting, and thunderous sound systems. It was clear from the outset that this was not just an ordinary awards night, but a heartfelt celebration of faith, creativity, and resilience.
The landmark gathering succeeded in bridging multiple sectors of the Nigerian entertainment landscape. The auditorium played host to a rich cross-section of the gospel music community, alongside heavyweights from Nollywood and the broader film industry. Attendees spotted mingling and soaking in the ambiance included veteran actors and filmmakers like Fred Amata, Emeka Ossai, Segun Arinze, Tony Akposeri, and Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey.
The guest list further underscored the event’s cultural weight, featuring respected industry leaders such as producer and director Andy Boyo, alongside Mahmood Ali-Balogun, the renowned filmmaker and Chairman of AVRS. They were joined by veteran journalist and producer Zik Zulu Okafor, the Director-General of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, legendary soul singer Alex O, media personality Cordelia Okpei, and prominent kingdom entrepreneurs Dr. Tim Ogboruche and Tunde Praise.
Yet, even with the heavy star power from the secular and film sectors, the heartbeat of the night remained anchored firmly in gospel music and spiritual devotion. Dynamic ministers and artistes like Tkeyz, Elwoma, and Ehiliz delivered stirring moments that resonated deeply with the audience. Adding to the eclectic flavor of the night were celebrated rapper Vector the Viper and the irrepressible gospel singer and comedian Akpororo, both of whom brought a unique surge of energy that proved how music can effortlessly transcend genre boundaries and unite diverse crowds.
Behind the glitz, glamour, and seamless production lies a deeply personal narrative of perseverance. For founder Kingsley Omoefe and his dedicated planning team, pulling off such a triumphant comeback was nothing short of a testament to unwavering faith and divine backing after years of quiet rebuilding. In his address to the audience, Omoefe shared heartfelt gratitude, thanking everyone from the nominees and awardees to corporate partners, artists, and the press who rallied behind the vision.
With this successful fifth outing, Reports observes that NIGMA has not only returned to the stage, but has boldly reclaimed its mandate. The platform stands once again as a vital benchmark for recognizing the brilliant minds and dedicated souls pushing the boundaries of gospel music and Christian entertainment across Nigeria.
