2Baba marked his 51st birthday over the weekend in a way that felt less like a celebrity outing and more like a family gathering, after seven of his eight children came together to honour him. The veteran singer, who has eight kids with four women, was surrounded by most of his brood as they turned the day into something he is unlikely to forget.
A clip from the celebration showed the children wishing him well, thanking him for the kind of father he has been, and telling him they love him. They also wished him peace and happiness. Those who took part included his children with Sunmbo Adeoye, Pero Osaiymi and Annie Macaulay. His current wife, Natasha Osawaru, mother of his toddler son, was not there.
September 18 was a double occasion for him. Besides the birthday, he launched his new album, Oldest Young Man. He hosted a birthday dinner and listening party in Lekki, with four of his children and his mother in attendance. The room also filled with familiar faces from entertainment, among them Spyro, Ayo Makun, Wande Coal, Julius Agwu and African China.
A few weeks earlier he had posted a video with four of his children, saying family fills the soul while fame fills the arena. The kids have never been short of humour either. Last year at his son Zion’s graduation they ribbed him over his Samsung phone and told him it was time he switched to an iPhone.
He has lately been seen spending time with different groups of his children. In one boat trip video, Natasha was shown looking after his kids from earlier relationships, among them daughters Isabella and Olivia and sons Nino and Zion. The footage showed her treating his stepchildren with open, unforced care.
