Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has stirred conversations following a recent revelation about his teenage years, sharing that he began casting out demons when he was just seventeen or eighteen years old.
The governor made this known during the inauguration of the Winlos Centre, a facility established by Pastor Ohis and Anwili Ojeikere. Addressing the gathering of worshippers, Okpebholo noted that seeing young people devoutly standing in God’s presence instantly transported him back to his own formative days in active Christian ministry, a period he looks back on with fond nostalgia.
Drawing a direct line from those early spiritual encounters to his current responsibilities, Okpebholo explained that his hands-on strategy for confronting security challenges in the state—particularly the deep-rooted menace of cultism—is heavily informed by his background. According to him, standing up to such vices is familiar territory rather than a novel burden, having dealt with intense spiritual and social pressures during his youth.
During the event, the governor also paid homage to the profound impact of the late iconic Pentecostal leader, Archbishop Benson Idahosa, whose legendary ministry under the Church of God Mission International shaped generations of believers across Nigeria and beyond.
