Preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is officially hitting its stride as the joint hosts—Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda—unveil the list of stadiums set to welcome the continent’s biggest football stars. This follows a rigorous inspection and approval process by CAF, which looked beyond just the pitches to ensure that regional infrastructure, transport networks, and hotel accommodations are up to the task of hosting such a massive event.

Tanzania is stepping up with four key venues. The list includes the well-known Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, the Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium, Dodoma Stadium, and Amaan Stadium. Each of these venues has been earmarked for specific upgrades to meet international standards, ensuring that fans traveling to the country have a world-class experience.

In Kenya, the government is leaning on a mix of legendary arenas and specialized sports centers. The designated venues include the Talanta Stadium, the iconic Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, and the Nyayo National Stadium. To ensure the tournament reaches beyond the capital, games are also scheduled for Bukhungu Stadium and Kipchoge Keino Stadium. These selections highlight Kenya’s commitment to showcasing its sporting heritage alongside modern developments.

Uganda is rounding out the East African “Pamoja” bid with three significant venues. The historic Mandela National Stadium will be a focal point, supported by the development of the Hoima Stadium and Akii Bua Stadium. These locations are expected to be hives of activity, bringing the thrill of the AFCON closer to local fans and boosting the regional economy.

This tournament is about much more than just football. By successfully hosting the 2027 edition, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda aim to position East Africa as a premier destination for global sporting events. With millions of fans expected to follow the action both in person and on screen, the spotlight on the region’s hospitality and passion for the game has never been brighter.
