The Kano State Government has sanctioned ₦3,338,290,683.52 for critical water supply and energy projects to enhance access to safe and reliable water across the state.
The approval, announced in a statement by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday, November 2, covers the construction of a modern Water Treatment Plant at Taliwaiwai in Rano Local Government Area. It also includes payments for electricity and fuel to support the uninterrupted operations of the State Water Board.
Additional funds will address outstanding electricity bills owed to KEDCO, supply diesel and petrol for water treatment facilities, and strengthen the management of water infrastructure in both urban and rural areas.
The statement highlighted the governor’s commitment to improving essential public utilities, ensuring sustainable water availability for domestic and industrial use.
“This intervention will ensure steady water supply, improve energy efficiency, and raise living standards for the people of Kano,” the statement said.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed that his administration will continue prioritizing initiatives that directly enhance citizens’ well-being and drive the state’s infrastructural development forward.
