The Delta State Government has dismissed reports claiming that former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has died, describing the information circulating online as completely false.
The clarification came after several online platforms published reports suggesting that the former governor had passed away, sparking concern among residents and well wishers across the state.
Reacting to the rumours, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, said he immediately contacted the former governor’s family to verify the claim.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Mr. Ossai revealed that he personally spoke with Dr. Uduaghan’s daughter, Miss Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that her father is alive and in good health.
According to him, many people had reached out to ask whether the reports were true, prompting him to seek confirmation directly from the family.
He expressed disappointment over the spread of the false report, describing the circulation of unverified information about someone’s death as insensitive and irresponsible.
Mr. Ossai noted that such rumours cause needless emotional distress for the affected family and create unnecessary anxiety among the many Deltans who hold the former governor in high regard.
He urged members of the public to ignore the rumour and avoid sharing information that has not been properly verified, stressing the importance of showing respect for people’s lives and reputations.
Reaffirming the family’s position, he stated that Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan is alive, well, and not dead.
The statement has helped calm concerns across Delta State following the widespread circulation of the false death report on several online platforms.
