Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has expressed serious doubts about the Independent National Electoral Commission’s ability to conduct a credible election in 2027. She called on Nigerians to take charge of their political future, ensuring that their votes are properly cast and counted for their chosen candidates.
Speaking at the Girls Summit organized by the Protect the Previous Foundation in Umuahia, Abia State, Yesufu dismissed any expectation of electoral reforms before the 2027 polls. She noted that “nothing has been put in place” to guarantee a transparent process.
Yesufu emphasized that the upcoming elections are more than a political exercise—they are a matter of survival. “As Nigerians head into 2027,” she said, “every election is a fight for our lives. People are suffering and dying because of poor governance, corruption, and the absence of sound policies.”
She warned that this struggle is not about outsiders or local disputes but about the collective responsibility of citizens to safeguard their future.
