The Walt Disney Company has entered into a new partnership with TikTok that will allow users of the popular short video platform to include clips from Disney films and characters in their content, describing the collaboration as a first of its kind.
The entertainment company announced the agreement on Wednesday, saying the partnership is designed to give creators a bigger role in promoting Disney+ through a specially curated stream of fan made videos featuring its iconic stories and characters.
While Disney did not reveal the financial or operational details of the arrangement, the company said the move aligns with its broader strategy of using modern technology to strengthen storytelling, expand audience engagement and create new revenue opportunities.
The announcement came alongside Disney’s latest quarterly financial results, which showed revenue climbing seven percent to reach $25.2 billion during the reporting period.
As part of its digital expansion efforts, Disney has already introduced vertical video previews for content from Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars on its Disney+ streaming platform. The feature mirrors TikTok’s popular scrolling style, making it easier for viewers to discover new content in a familiar format.
Although the company’s net profit declined to $2.8 billion for the quarter ending June 27, compared with $5.9 billion recorded during the same period last year, Disney attributed part of the drop to a higher tax expense. Despite the decline in profit, the company’s financial performance still surpassed the expectations of many market analysts.
