A Moroccan court has postponed the trial of 18 Senegalese supporters arrested following disturbances during the African Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco. The incidents, which reportedly took place in the stands during the high-stakes match, drew widespread attention across Africa.
The hearing, initially scheduled for this week, has been rescheduled for 12 February, according to court officials. In the meantime, the Senegalese government has dispatched a legal team to Morocco to represent the detained fans and ensure their rights are protected.
Diplomatic discussions between the two countries are ongoing, with Senegalese authorities actively seeking fair treatment and transparency in the handling of the case. The trial is set to resume when the court reconvenes later this month, keeping the spotlight on both the legal proceedings and the broader efforts to safeguard supporters amid international tournaments.
