The political atmosphere in Osun State is heating up ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, launching a scathing critique of the current administration’s fiscal management. During an appearance at an interactive town hall meeting held this Tuesday, Oyebamiji challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to provide a clear and transparent account of how the state’s resources have been handled over the past few years.
At the center of the dispute is the 15 billion Naira that Oyebamiji claims was left behind by the immediate past governor, Adegboyega Oyetola. Beyond the inherited funds, the APC candidate alleged that Governor Adeleke has received more than 650 billion Naira in federal allocations over his three-and-a-half-year tenure. According to Oyebamiji, the physical reality on the ground in Osun does not reflect the massive influx of capital, leaving many to wonder where the money has gone.
To provide perspective on his claims, Oyebamiji contrasted the current financial picture with the previous 12 years of governance under former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola. He asserted that those two administrations collectively received approximately 450 billion Naira, a figure he argued was managed with far more visible results for the state.
Addressing the audience and journalists, Oyebamiji did not mince words regarding the distribution of state funds. Reports gathered by Zoyols News indicate that he went as far as describing the current spending pattern as an aberration. He pointedly remarked that 97 percent of the state’s resources are being concentrated within just two local government areas, labeling the situation as criminal and a disservice to the residents of Osun.
