The singer insisted that he only slapped Tunez twice and that none of his crew were involved, contrary to some reports. He also revealed his surprise that Wizkid, whom he expected to call him directly, instead reacted online.
“I didn’t have ten people on DJ Tunez, it was only me and just two slaps. I swear on my mama, if I’m lying, let Ogun take my mama to wherever Wizkid’s mama is. He comes online tweeting, I thought he’d send a squad—na internet their power dey,” Burna said, taking a pointed jab at his rival.
Eyewitnesses said the incident took place at a nightclub, where a disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation. While Burna claimed he acted alone, reports suggested multiple individuals were present, with DJ Tunez reportedly caught in the middle. Following the incident, Tunez described Burna’s actions as a sign of weakness, claiming he stood his ground, which Burna later mocked in a video. In the clip, Burna was seen prancing around his hotel room, vibing to Tunez’s song and saying “Ogbafia dey for ground.”

The Nigerian DJ Association released a statement advising all DJs to refrain from playing Burna Boy’s songs, emphasizing fairness and equality, and reaffirming that no one should be discriminated against based on skin color, religion, background, or gender.
Wizkid also weighed in, publicly mocking Burna for rallying ten men against a DJ while holding a Diddy towel, calling the display foolish. In response, Burna’s team shared throwback photos highlighting previous encounters with Wizkid, defending their boss and pushing back against the criticism.
