Popular comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has emerged as the BOOT Party candidate for Ibeju Lekki Constituency I ahead of the 2027 Lagos State House of Assembly election.
DeeOne secured the party’s ticket after winning the primary election, positioning him to contest for a seat in the state legislature as political preparations for the 2027 general elections continue to gather pace.
The entertainer shared the news of his victory on his official Instagram page on Wednesday, expressing appreciation to members of the BOOT Party for the trust and confidence they placed in him during the primary process.
In his message, he thanked party supporters for backing his aspiration and giving him the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election.
DeeOne also used the occasion to reach out to residents of Ibeju Lekki Constituency I, assuring them that leadership under him would be focused on service and the welfare of the people. He stated that if elected in 2027, he would see himself as a servant of the people rather than a leader seeking personal recognition.
His emergence further highlights the increasing involvement of entertainers in Nigerian politics, with more public figures from the entertainment industry showing interest in public office ahead of the next election cycle.
Should he succeed at the polls, DeeOne would join a growing number of entertainers who have moved from the spotlight of show business into public service, using their popularity and influence to pursue political careers and represent their communities.
