Gov Eno approves ₦695bn supplementary budget for Akwa Ibom 2025

Governor Umo Eno has signed into law a ₦695 billion supplementary budget for Akwa Ibom State, marking another major step in his administration’s drive for accelerated development. The signing ceremony took place during the October Project Delivery Meeting at Government House in Uyo.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation to the State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the appropriation, noting that it reflects a shared vision for growth and accountability. He assured residents that every kobo would be used judiciously to advance ongoing projects and improve public services.

“All hands are on deck, and we will continue to serve with transparency and dedication. This supplementary budget will further strengthen our resolve to deliver on our promises and complete key projects across the state,” he said.

Following the signing, the governor released ₦60 billion to contractors who have verified Interim Payment Certificates, directing ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure all projects meet specified timelines and standards.

The October Project Delivery Meeting also reviewed progress on several critical projects, including the Tree Crop Revolution initiative, the State Electricity Market, Ibom Tourism Summit, Arise Senior Citizens Centre, Arise Resort, renovation of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, the Christmas Unplugged event, Oron Maritime and Jetty Project, the CNG City Bus Project, and the ongoing development of the Itam Industrial Park.

Other key projects reviewed were the Ibom Model Farm, AKBC House, Ikot Ekpene International Market, Assembly Complex and Speaker’s Lodge renovation, the Court of Appeal Complex, airport infrastructure, the Equipment Leasing Company, the RAMP Project, the Ibom International Hospital, as well as General Hospitals in Ukanafun and Ibiono Ibom, and the Mother and Child Hospital.

Commending the initiative, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, described the project review session as a remarkable example of transparent governance. “We have never witnessed this level of accountability and openness in project delivery. It gives us a clear picture of the state’s development direction and strengthens legislative oversight,” he said.

Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the supplementary budget directly impacts the lives of citizens through sustainable projects, improved infrastructure, and inclusive economic growth.
