Innoson Set to Establish CNG Assembly Plant in Bayelsa

ZoyolsBlog

Nigeria’s foremost automobile company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited, has unveiled plans to establish a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) assembly plant in Bayelsa State, a move expected to boost local industry, create jobs, and advance the state’s clean energy agenda.

The company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Innocent Chukwuma, revealed this during a visit to Governor Douye Diri in Yenagoa, where he emphasized that the project aligns with Nigeria’s national goal of transitioning to renewable energy by 2030.

According to Kamsi Ejiofor, Innoson’s Corporate Communications Manager, the plant will create more than 1,000 direct jobs and several thousand indirect employment opportunities in sectors such as logistics, maintenance, assembly, and local component production. He explained that the adoption of CNG vehicles will significantly reduce fuel consumption, cut maintenance costs, and help improve air quality across the region.

Governor Diri expressed strong support for the initiative, noting that it fits perfectly into his administration’s broader plan to industrialize Bayelsa and move from a consumption-driven economy to one focused on production and innovation. He described Innoson’s investment as timely and a key step toward achieving the state’s 2026 industrialization goals.

To ensure smooth coordination, the governor announced the establishment of a committee led by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Nimibofa Ayawei, to work closely with Innoson on the project. He further assured that Bayelsa offers a peaceful and business-friendly environment, supported by improving infrastructure and stable power supply, making it ideal for such investments.

Governor Diri reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with private investors like Innoson, stressing that the state is determined to create the right conditions for industries to thrive and drive sustainable economic growth.

Zoyols Blog gathered that once completed, the Innoson CNG plant will not only position Bayelsa as a hub for clean energy technology but also contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s push toward a greener, more self-sufficient transport sector.
