The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has issued a stern warning to adversaries of the state, cautioning that their time is running out. Represented by Maj.-Gen. Musa Etsu-Ndagi, Deputy Chief of Training Army, Oluyede vowed that the Nigerian Army would take decisive action against criminal elements breaching the nation’s peace.
Exercise Vulcan Glow XI 2025
The warning was made at the ‘Exercise Vulcan Glow XI 2025 Study Period’ held at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery in Kachia, Kaduna State. The exercise aims to prepare artillery formations and units for their primary role of supporting Nigerian Army operations. Oluyede emphasized the need for the Army to become more innovative, especially in delivering efficient fire support, given the evolving nature of warfare and emerging technologies.
Commitment to Excellence
The COAS commended the artillery corps for their efforts in delivering fire support and making progress in equipment repair, maintenance, and research and development. He praised the corps for leveraging indigenous solutions to address technical challenges in equipment repair and urged them to enhance their operational effectiveness through adequate training and regular equipment maintenance.

The Commander of the Corps of Artillery, Maj.-Gen. Zakaria Abubakar, stated that the exercise is an annual artillery field training designed to enhance the capabilities of artillery personnel. Abubakar emphasized the importance of the exercise, saying it would provide an opportunity for personnel to sharpen their skills and enhance their capabilities in providing effective fire support to all operations.
