Safaricom’s Decode 4.0: Powering Kenya’s Next Big Digital Leap

Zoyols News

Kenya’s journey toward becoming a dominant force in the regional tech landscape received a significant boost this week as the Decode 4.0 engineering summit kicked off in Nairobi. The three-day event, organized by Safaricom in collaboration with global giants like Microsoft, Google, Dell Technologies, and Huawei, has transformed the capital into a vibrant hub for developers, innovators, and tech visionaries. The primary goal of this gathering is to chart a clear path for the next phase of the country’s digital evolution.

Under the theme “Made for Kenya,” the summit shines a spotlight on the nation’s unique reputation for mobile-first innovation. It serves as a high-level platform where the people driving digital transformation can collaborate and share ideas. The scale of the event is immense, with over 100,000 participants joining both in person and virtually, highlighting the massive interest in accessible digital solutions across the continent.

At the opening ceremony, Safaricom Chief Executive Peter Ndegwa praised the relentless spirit of the Kenyan people. He noted that the local culture is defined by ingenuity and a “hustle” mentality that constantly pushes the envelope of what is possible. He explained that Decode 4.0 is designed to give that creative energy a home, bringing together problem-solvers to build solutions that aren’t just for Kenya, but have the potential to scale across the rest of Africa and the world.

The summit is much more than just a series of speeches; it is deeply rooted in practical learning. Participants are engaging in hands-on builder labs and mentorship programs specifically designed to provide the skills needed to tackle real-world problems. Reports has learned that much of the focus is on emerging sectors like artificial intelligence, fintech, and creative technologies—areas now considered the engines of Kenya’s future economic growth.

Safaricom has also made it clear that the impact of this gathering will be felt long after the final session concludes. The company plans to sustain this momentum through year-round initiatives, including regional “Decode Cafés” and ongoing training programs for developers and educators throughout the country. To further support the professional growth of attendees, participants will earn digital badges and certificates, helping to solidify a reliable pipeline of tech talent for the years to come.
