Soldiers eliminate two Kogi kidnappers, recover arms

Security forces in Kogi State have intensified their crackdown on criminal networks, with military personnel neutralizing two suspected kidnappers during a sweep through the dense thickets of Edimogbo Forest.
The successful engagement, which took place within the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, came on the heels of an initial raid conducted by the 12 Composite Brigade of the Nigerian Army. Following contact with the armed gang earlier in the week, operatives tracked the fleeing suspects deeper into the woodland to dismantle their remaining operational bases.
According to a briefing issued by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, who speaks for the brigade, the follow-up sweep yielded a significant cache of weaponry and tactical gear. Troops recovered a pair of AK-47 rifles alongside seven magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition, including 438 rounds of 7.62mm by 54 calibre and a substantial reserve of 4,725 rounds of special ammunition. Additional items seized from the hideout included two bandoliers, mobile communication devices, and a power bank.
Command authorities noted that the operation underscores the military’s ongoing strategy to maintain relentless pressure on criminal elements across the region. With troops continuing to dominate the terrain and maintaining high operational morale, Zoyols News understands that these efforts are closely coordinated with the Kogi State Police Command and other sister security agencies to curb the rising tide of abductions in the area.
