Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected in Sokoto on Wednesday as he prepares to formally launch the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC presidential candidate is scheduled to arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at 9am, where he will be welcomed by party leaders, political associates, supporters and other members of the public.
The Coordinator of the Sokoto State ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, announced the planned visit in a statement made available to journalists.
According to Lamido, the visit forms part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence, mobilise supporters and build wider political support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
A major highlight of Atiku’s visit will be the official flag-off of the ADC presidential campaign in Sokoto State. The event is scheduled to take place at the party’s state secretariat at No. 1, Ilorin Road, Sokoto.
The campaign council has urged party members, supporters and residents of the state who identify with the party to come out in large numbers to welcome Atiku and participate in the scheduled activities.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the ADC to energise its supporters and reinforce its political presence in Sokoto as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
